A community-owned luxury lodge at the edge of Volcanoes Park
Sabyinyo is a community-owned collection of bespoke and luxury cottages nestled on the edge of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. Sabyinyo’s proximity to the park means the possibility of an indelible experience visiting its resident gorilla troop. The verdant forest is also home to various other rare wildlife species, including golden monkeys, Rwenzori sun squirrels, and — a big one for the birders — the brightly coloured Rwenzori turacos. Sabyinyo is owned by SACOLA (Sabyinyo Community Livelihood Association) and it offers various community-based activities for guests and are partners in the conservation programs that protect the local gorillas. The lodge is also home to a large organic garden, of which the produce is used in seasonal cuisine.
