Nestled against an outcropping of massive ochre boulders from a prehistoric time, Mowani Mountain Camp is a tranquil sanctuary retreat in the desertscape of Damaraland. With its striking dome-shaped thatch roofs and award-winning design, the lodge blends in seamlessly with the surroundings. Panoramic views can be enjoyed from a sundowner spot on top of a mountain as well as the sparkling swimming pool, the wide wooden decks and the large open windows. Guests can enjoy drives around the area, on the lookout for the region’s large population of endangered black rhinos, for elusive lions, or Damaraland’s famous desert-adapted elephants. Other activities include paying a visit to the area’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, Twyfelfontein, which is home to a substantial collection of rock engravings and paintings.
