A rustic lodge set on spacious grounds in the Nyae Nyae Conservancy

The University Centre for Studies in Namibia (TUCSIN) is a great supporter of marginalised Namibians. As a visitor to TUCSIN Tsumkwe Lodge, you will be contributing to initiatives that support the local San people. Take part in bush walks, practical crafts, and traditional dance and song around campfires, or spend a night in the village in a traditional hut. A village tour allows you to purchase authentic San crafts directly from the maker. The experienced guides are also part of the local community and so have abundant knowledge to share about their culture and the surroundings. During the dry season, a great number of animals, including elephants, hyenas, kudus, eland, and various bird species, gather at the lodge’s waterhole.

Best time to go to Namibia

Best
Good
Acceptable
Namibia is best visited between May and October when safari viewing is at its best. Between the winter months of May and July, daytime temperatures are moderate, while nights can get quite cold, so remember to pack a warm jacket. The veld fills with baby animals during the summer months of November and December. This is also an excellent time for birders as many migrant bird species have returned. The rainy season is from November to April, resulting in dramatic thundershowers and even desert flooding.
