Travellers from 167 countries – including most EU states, the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Norway, Japan, Israel, and Brazil – may enter Zambia visa-free for up to 90 days. All other nationalities must obtain a visa online or on arrival. Passports must be valid for at least six months and contain one blank page. For those visiting both sides of Victoria Falls, the KAZA Univisa is the most convenient option. It is valid for 30 days and covers both Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The best time to visit Victoria Falls depends on whether you want to see the falls at their most dramatic or enjoy clearer views and activities. From February to May, just after the rainy season, the Zambezi River is at its fullest, and the falls are at their most powerful, an awe-inspiring sight with massive spray that can be seen from miles away (though sometimes so much mist that visibility is reduced). For clearer views, photography, and activities like white-water rafting, June to August offers a balance of good water flow with less spray. From September to December, the water levels are lower, exposing the rock formations and allowing unique experiences such as swimming in Devil’s Pool.
