A treetop lodge in the lush forests between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay

Found between the treetops of an indigenous forest, Tsala Treetop Lodge radiates Africa’s spirit from the stunning afro-baroque décor to the detailed handcrafted fittings, with a multitude of nearby Garden Route activities to keep you entertained. Stunning views will surround you wherever you go, whether you’re having a meal in the glass-walled dining room or soaking up the sunshine on the deck above the forest floor. The exquisite meals are complemented by a wide selection of vintage, South African wines found in the lodge’s cellar. To show their commitment to giving back, Tsala also runs a literacy programme for Grade 3 learners of the local community.

Best time to go to Garden Route

The best time to visit this region is in the warmer months of September to April. The Garden Route is rainy throughout the year and is a popular summer destination that can get busy over the Christmas holidays. You will soon understand why, as you feel the warm rays while kloofing, abseiling and paragliding or simply taking a dip in the azure Indian Ocean. The months of May to August are colder but will provide opportunities for whale watching (peaking in September) with more windless days to enjoy.
