A warm and comfortable lodge situated near famous Etosha National Park

The Mushara Outpost is an immersive bush getaway situated a mere 10 km from the Von Lindequist Gate of the world-famous Etosha National Park. The lodge’s main building has an old farmhouse atmosphere that is felt in the warm hospitality of its staff and seen in its high walls, corrugated iron roof, and large wrap-around veranda with plenty of shade. Guests stay in custom-made tent-like wood and canvas structures mounted on wooden decks 1.5 m above the ground. These tents are nestled on the banks of an ancient dry riverbed, which the Herero people call ‘omuramba’. Some of the many facilities include a lounge, fireplace for the winter months, swimming pool, and well-stocked bookshelves.

Best time to go to Etosha National Park

Acceptable
The perfect time to visit Etosha National Park is during the dry winter months between May and September. The lack of rainfall means that Etosha’s animals tend to gather around the waterholes en masse, meaning many fantastic sightings. The park sports less dense bush in the winter months, allowing easier viewing opportunities of wildlife. The wet season spans from November to April. During this time, animals scatter throughout the park as water sources may not be scarce, allowing pink flamingos and pelicans to flock to the shallow-filled pan, making for some vividly-contrasting photographs!
