Rustic, eco-conscious oasis bordering the Namib Desert

The Elegant Desert Lodge is situated on farmland surrounded by gravel plains and the Tsaris Mountains in the distance. It is just 38 km from the Sesriem Gate of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, which houses world-renowned salt and clay pans and towering orange dunes. This eco-conscious lodge has several elegantly appointed, air-conditioned rooms and tented accommodation to choose from. The whole lodge runs on 24-hour solar power, which includes the hot- and cold-water geysers. A central pool area with a deck is also available to keep the heat of the day at bay.

Best time to go to Namibia

Namibia is best visited between May and October when safari viewing is at its best. Between the winter months of May and July, daytime temperatures are moderate, while nights can get quite cold, so remember to pack a warm jacket. The veld fills with baby animals during the summer months of November and December. This is also an excellent time for birders as many migrant bird species have returned. The rainy season is from November to April, resulting in dramatic thundershowers and even desert flooding.
