Renovated farmhouse fully equipped for self-catering travellers
The NamibRand Family Hideout is a rejuvenated farmhouse, remotely situated in south-western Namibia, on the NamibRand Nature Reserve, one of Southern Africa ’s largest private nature reserves and the only Dark Sky Reserve in Africa. Self-catering (rates exclude bedding) or Full Board/DBB (2022 rates incl bedding).
Nearby there are also 3 private and secluded campsites Orion, Venus and Jupiter (deluxe campsite, wheelchair accessible). 4x4 or high clearance vehicles recommended for campsite access.
Pre-booking is essential. In addition to our daily rates, a daily per person Park Fee is compulsory for contribution to the conservation function of the NamibRand Nature Reserve.
You are advised to book at least 2 nights as our facilities are over 16 kilometres off the main road C27.

Namibia is best visited between May and October when safari viewing is at its best. Between the winter months of May and July, daytime temperatures are moderate, while nights can get quite cold, so remember to pack a warm jacket. The veld fills with baby animals during the summer months of November and December. This is also an excellent time for birders as many migrant bird species have returned. The rainy season is from November to April, resulting in dramatic thundershowers and even desert flooding.
