Take a coastal detour while exploring the scenic Garden Route and experience the jewel that is the Western Cape at Lekkerwater Beach Lodge. Perched on ancient dunes overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Lekkerwater calls a dedicated concession on De Hoop Nature Reserve its home. Guests are encouraged to explore the reserve’s rich biodiversity with a day hike through De Hoop’s Klipspringer and Coastal trails during high tide. At low tide, guests can enjoy exciting guided walks exploring the flourishing inter-tidal ecosystem. There is also epic whale watching between July and November.

De Hoop Nature Reserve is an eventful year-round destination. From June to November, visitors can spot Southern right whales and their young. This cooler season is also great for activities like wildlife viewing, hiking, sandboarding and mountain biking. The rest of the year, from December to May, visitors can enjoy discovering rock pools, going on nature walks and having picnics. In the summertime, the various plants in bloom are a lovely sight. This time is also great for birding as at the end of spring, around October, migratory birds come to the reserve.
