Best time to go to Fish River Canyon

The best time to visit the rocky vistas of the Fish River Canyon is between April and September. If you are going hiking, the ideal time to do so is in the winter months, which are rainless and have comfortable, cool temperatures. Take note that the popular Fish River Trail is only open for pre-booked hikers between April and September. Summertime (December to February) is scorching hot with daily temperatures of 38°C - 41°C. The preceding spring months (September to November) have slightly lower temperatures but are still quite hot.

The 20 Chalets are made up of 6 double, 3 family and 11 twin rooms, set ample distance apart to allow for privacy and solitude. Dry-packed stone walls cover the outer chalets and large windows offer light and views over the canyon. Each chalet has an additional outdoor shower that offers guests the opportunity to cool down under the stars on warm nights.
