Rustic eco-safari Meru campsite nestled in the foothills of the Grootberg massif
At Etendeka Mountain Camp, guests can step out of their comfort zone and embrace the stark beauty and remote wilderness of Namibia’s ancient Kaokoveld. Enjoy breathtaking 180° views of the nearby Etendeka basalt lava flows, view the unique wildlife that call the area home, and indulge in nights of stargazing right from the tent. Etendeka encourages its guests to authentically engage with nature, by trekking through the wilderness with guided overnight walking trails, or afternoon scenic and game drives with fellow nature enthusiasts. As proud advocates of ecotourism, the campsite runs on solar energy, with Meru tents designed to blend in with nature.
Best time to go to Damaraland
You’ll be relieved to hear that the dramatic and glorious Damaraland is a year-long destination! However, the best time to visit is in May through to September, due to animals frequenting waterholes, so you’ll be spoiled with especially rare sightings. If you want Damaraland all to yourself, avoid visiting in July to September when some places can get rather busy. From October to January things can get heated during the day, so come prepared with clothes to stay cool and enough water to hydrate you during your daily experiences!
