Intimate camp in Damaraland, focused on rhino conservation and sustainability.
Tucked away in the heart of Damaraland, Camp Doros offers an exclusive and immersive safari experience focused on tracking desert-adapted black rhino, with personalised service, low environmental impact, and unforgettable moments in Namibia’s striking wilderness landscape.
Deliberately small and secluded, Camp Doros is dedicated to offering meaningful wildlife encounters in one of Namibia’s most dramatic and ecologically rich regions. Perched on a high bank above a dry riverbed and shaded by Mopane trees, the camp is protected from prevailing winds and blends harmoniously into its surroundings. It boasts one of the lowest environmental footprints of any camp in the country, operating entirely on solar power.
Accommodation consists of six shaded Meru-style tents, including a family unit, all raised on wooden platforms and designed for comfort and privacy. Each tent features an en-suite open-air bathroom with a flush toilet and hot water shower, as well as a day bed on the deck, solar-powered lighting, 220V charging points, cupboards, and an in-tent fan. A spacious shared area includes a lounge with fireplaces, dining room, bar, campfire circle, sun deck, and a shared plunge pool—ideal for relaxing after a day of exploration. Meals are hearty and thoughtfully prepared in a solar- and wood-fired kitchen, and the service is warm and personalised throughout.
Activities centre on tracking the desert-adapted black rhino with a qualified Rhino Ranger team, as well as nature drives and guided walks. Guests staying longer can also search for desert-adapted elephants and visit a local rock engraving site. A separate Wi-Fi lounge is available, and families are welcome, with a kiddies’ menu and child-friendly experiences on offer. Children under six are accepted if the camp is booked for exclusive use. Camp Doros is open year-round and is fully inclusive of all meals, local drinks, and activities. Guests are welcomed at the Onduli Airstrip with a waiting lounge and ablution facilities before transfer.
