Popular stopover — in the middle of nowhere — to stretch your legs
Not only a remote settlement but also the perfect stop between Sesriem and Swakopmund, Solitaire has been rejuvenating weary travellers for over 60 years. Sitting on the edge of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, this tiny town is surrounded by sparse grasslands and is dotted with rusted, vintage cars that add to the atmosphere that welcomes you into Solitaire. Here you can stock up on cold drinks, ice cream (perfect for a hot summer’s day), coffee, fuel, and snacks. Two lodges are also nearby for those wanting to stay a little longer.
