Skeleton Coast North
About the area
The Skeleton Coast is the world’s largest ship cemetery, littered with animal skeletons and shipwrecks due to rough seas and foul weather. This makes for a startling and bold scene, set against the backdrop of sea sand dunes and the wild Atlantic Ocean. The remote northern region of the Skeleton Coast spans from Torra Bay to the upper reaches of Namibia, coming to an end at the Angolan border. This area is arguably the most beautiful expanse of the Skeleton Coast but is only accessible with a tour operator as it has been declared a wilderness area.
