Nkasa Rupara National Park

About the area

Lush landscapes with thriving wildlife aren’t all that make Nkasa Rupara National Park such an unspoilt paradise, this is the largest wetland area in Namibia with conservation status. The park is also centred around two islands in the Kwando River, namely Nkasa and Rupara – which is where this magical place gets its name from. Seasonal floods make the park incapable of being travelled to, except in the dry season, when adventurers can witness the breathtaking bird and wildlife species on display.

Witness remarkable wildlife on a classic 4x4 trip through the park.
Spot countless bird species, 430 to be exact!
Encounter the largest concentration of buffalos in all of Namibia.
It becomes Namibia's version of the Okavango Delta when flooded — a paradise of islands and reed-lined waterways.
