About the area

The small village of Aus and the Huib Plateau was originally inhabited by hunter-gatherer groups and is now a railway town in southern Namibia with an interesting and diverse history. The town is named ‘snake fountain’ as it is the last reliable water source before the expansive Namib Desert. Today, Aus is home to one of the only populations of wild horses in Africa! The village offers an authentic ‘Wild West’ atmosphere amidst rustic and natural beauty.
