The Volcanoes region in Rwanda is a breathtaking natural wonder that features a chain of majestic volcanoes, 6 in Rwanda that are inactive. The region offers a unique opportunity to explore Rwanda's natural beauty and experience its rich culture. The Volcanoes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to the endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys as well as a verdant high-altitude forest and lush surroundings. The town of Musanze, located near the park, offers visitors a glimpse into the daily lives of Rwandan locals and is a great place to experience the country's diverse cuisine, tea and coffee.

Best time to go to Volcanoes Region
The Volcanoes Region is marked by 2 dry seasons and 2 rainy seasons. The dry seasons — one of which is from December to January and the second is from June to August — are often the best time to visit the area if you want to go gorilla trekking or hiking as the terrain is easier to traverse. The rainy season is also great for bird viewing and exploring tea and coffee plantations. Note that the area has a tropical climate and can experience rain at any time of the year, so be sure to pack waterproof clothing.
