Thornybush Private Game Reserve is a 14.000 ha private game reserve boasting uncrowded safari experiences in its mixed woodland eco-zone. Suitable for all kinds of travellers, visitors will be amazed by the variety of fauna and flora, which can be fully appreciated with the help of expert guides, rangers and trackers. A variety of animals are drawn to the area because of the constant source of water in the rivers and diverse vegetation. The reserve also shares an unfenced border with the renowned Kruger National Park and this further supports the ecological benefits of diverse wildlife that can be enjoyed along with Big 5 encounters, especially lion and leopard sightings.

Thornybush Private Game Reserve allows you to experience the bushveld in the winter and in the summer with an almost perfect year-round climate. In the summertime, the air is dry and temperatures are hot yet manageable. As a rule, winters (between May and August) are easier to view wildlife because the bush is less dense. The winter days have pleasant temperatures averaging around 20°C, but it’s advisable to dress warmly for both morning and evening game drives. If you are visiting during the period of November to March, you can expect magnificent thunderstorms.
