The heart of the Okavango Delta, home to Botswana's most endangered large mammals
As the oldest protected reserve in the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve is a testament to conservation and the beauty of Botswana. This reserve was created through the efforts of the local communities and in tribute, it was named after the BaTawana tribal leader, Chief Moremi III, and his wife. The reserve stretches across the central and eastern sections of the Delta. Famous locations include Chiefs Island and the Moremi Tongue, which are areas that support an incredible range of biodiversity with year-round water availability. Fantastic wildlife include the Big 5, huge packs of wild dog, and plenty of birds and reptiles.
