The best time to visit Mahale Mountains is during the dry season from June to October, when the forest trails are easier to navigate and chimp trekking offers the highest success rate. During these months, the chimps stay closer to the lakeshore, and the weather is warm with minimal rain—perfect for swimming, walking safaris, and relaxing on the Lake Tanganyika beach and forest. The green season, from November to April, brings lush vegetation, vibrant birdlife, and fewer visitors, though trekking can be more challenging due to humidity and rainfall.
