Gishwati Mukura National Park is a park in northwestern Rwanda that was established in 2015 with the aim of rehabilitating an area that had been almost completely depleted by human activity. The park encompasses the Gishwati and Mukura forests in an approximately 34 km2 area. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife and plant life, including a group of about 20 chimpanzees, golden monkeys, L’Hoest and Blue Monkeys. It is also home to several communities of indigenous people, who have been living in the area for centuries.

Best time to go to Gishwati Mukura National Park
Gishwati Mukura National Park is located near the equator and experiences quite a bit of rain. Although the park is open year-round, the best time to visit it is during the dry season between June and September. During these months, hiking is best as the trails are less slippery. There is another dry season from December to February, although rainfall is not uncommon during this time.
