Best time to go to Dar es Salaam
The best time to visit Dar es Salaam is during the dry seasons (June–October and December–February), when humidity is lower, skies are clear, and the best beaches near Dar es Salaam are ideal for swimming or boat trips to the offshore islands. These months also make city exploring, from the Kivukoni Fish Market to the Msasani Peninsula, more comfortable. The rainy seasons (March–May and November) bring heavier downpours and high humidity, though ferry connections and flights continue as normal. For travellers building a wider Tanzania itinerary, the dry months provide the smoothest experience before connecting onwards to Zanzibar, the safari circuit, or inland destinations like Lake Victoria.
