Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge is a relaxing getaway situated in the Northern Drakensberg Mountains that welcomes groups of all sizes, including families and hikers, with open arms. Guests can appreciate the mountainous area’s enchanting landscapes and variety of fauna and flora, with highlights like spotting endangered Bearded Vultures soaring up above or admiring the nearby Tugela Falls. After enjoying a buffet breakfast at the restaurant, it’s time to delight in hiking, rock climbing, bird watching, and learning more about local arts and crafts made by the Batlokoa community. These include a great deal of artwork and woven items that can be found in the lodge.
The Bungalow Large units offer more floor space than the standard version, in addition to a separate seating area. The rooms each have a double bed or 2 twin beds and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. Other amenities include a cupboard, a safe, and coffee and tea facilities.
The Sentinel units each offer a double bedroom with extra-length beds and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The mountain-facing walls boast floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing excellent views of Sentinel Peak. Finished with provincial stone and adorned with locally made curtains and carpets allow the units to blend in well with the beautiful surroundings.
The Bungalow units boast the same mountain-style look that the lodge has. Each room offers an extra-length king-sized bed, with optional twin bed arrangements, and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. Other amenities include a cupboard, a safe, and coffee and tea facilities.
The Backpackers Cabin has 6 rooms with 2 twin beds each, ideal for a budget hiker’s holiday. Guests share ablution facilities, one male and one female, as well as a communal cooking and eating area. The front of the cabin overlooks the lush valley and dams below.
