Set on the outskirts of Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta, Thamo Telele is based on owners Jerry and Jana Lackey’s passion for Botswana. The Lackeys are stewards of the Thamo Telele Private Reserve and founders of the Love Botswana Outreach Mission, an organisation that creates life-changing programs to uplift the local community. The name of the lodge means ‘long neck’ in Setswana, a reference to the lodge’s resident giraffe herd. Nestled near the Thamalakane River, the lodge can accommodate up to 22 guests with enough space for relaxation. Guests can enjoy spotting plains animals, giraffes, and the myriad bird species that frequent the surroundings.
Each of the 9 Luxury Tented Suites are on raised wooden platforms with hardwood floors and bright interiors. The suites all come with twin beds that can be converted into doubles, an en-suite bathroom, an outdoor shower, and air-conditioning.
The 2 air-conditioned Honeymoon Chalets are private and romantic, with superior king-size canopy beds adorned with soft white linen and plump pillows. The en-suite bathrooms each have a large bath, double basin, and an outdoor shower.
