Homestyle comfort in the Eastern Cape bush
Leeuwenbosch Country House is a unique, 8 bed game lodge, created from the gracefully renovated 1908 settler home of the Fowlds family. Shearers Lodge offers 4 contemporary double suites, overlooking the tranquil gardens from the shade of a wide veranda. Steeped in the history of the South African Eastern Cape Frontier, both stays form part of the scenic wilderness of Amakhala Game Reserve. After an early morning coffee or afternoon high tea, informative professional guides take guests on safari drives, walks, and river cruises.

January to May are the best months to visit this part of the country. Thanks to mild temperatures, and the oceanic climate, it won’t feel too hot or too cold. Wind and rain is also generally at a minimum, making it the perfect season for daily game drives. The area is rather humid, making the overall temperature edge on the tropical side. August until December is also just as pleasant as things become warmer after winter.
