With spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, Fossil Hills offers guests the opportunity to relax in peace and quiet on a working wine farm in the Klein Karoo. Located in the Breede Valley between Robertson and McGregor, the self-catering accommodation is located on Thornvilla, a farm that has been in the Naudé family for generations. The name, Fossil Hills, refers to the unique fossils that are continuously being discovered on the farm, with the earliest specimens dating back 355 million years. Guests can enjoy activities such as walks between the orchids, exploring the mountain trails and picnics – completely unwinding in the idyllic and tranquil surroundings.

In the Breede River Valley, spring begins in September and marks the end of winter. The winter time is the rainiest of the year and allows visitors to enjoy a roaring river and a lush landscape in spring and early summer. During spring and summer, the region boasts clear skies, hot days, and comfortable evenings. However, this is the busiest time of year for the Breede River Valley. If you’re looking for a good deal, March through May is a good time to visit as the weather is moderate and rain is rare while the region is also less busy!
